Moore To Defend ‘ Title
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 8.30 p.m.) DETROIT. March 25. Archie Moore signed a contract today for a June " defence of his world light-heavy-weight boxing championship. He will meet the winner of the Chuck Spieser-Tony Anthony bout on April 5. Both matches will be held at Olympia Stadium, Detroit. Moore will receive 40 per cent of the net proceeds and the challenger will get 20 pet cent. Spieser is the No. 1 contender and Anthony is ranked No. 3.
R. Mitchell Retires (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, March 26. The Hutt Valley professional welter-weight boxer, Ray Mitchell, announced his retirement from the ring after' his contest with Ulf Christensen, of Wellington, at Taita last night He said that lack of contests made it difficult to attain top form. Christensen had a points win in last night’s bout.
