More Petrol For Britons
(Rec. 10 p.m) LONDON. Mar. 19 Developments in Britain’s fuel oituation followed swiftly on yesterday’s announcement that the Suez Canal will be clear for full navigation by March 25, according to the “News Chronicle.” Diesel oil for all buses, coaches and lorries, will be freed from rationing from March 31. and private motorists will get 50 per cent more basic petrol from April 17.
The newspaper said oil companies were already planning to switch tankers from the American and Cape runs in readiness for the Suez reopening. United Nations salvage experts who gave the new clearance date for the canal said the sunken tug Edgar Bonnet, which is the last obstacle to shipping, will be raised by March 24.
