SCORES IN TEST
England 110 For Nine (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 9 p.m.) PORT ELIZABETH, March 2. South Africa is in a strong position to force a win and share the five-test series against England at the end of the second day s play today in the final test at Port Elizabeth. At stumps, England was 110 for nine wickets in reply to South Africa's first innings score of 164. With the recently returfed pitch getting steadily worse. South Africa is in a commanding position under conditions when every run is important. Many balls today hardly left the pitch, and it was very difficult for batsmen to make strokes confidently. South Africa’s seam bowlers did most of the damage. They were able to skid the ball through low. Batsmen never knew what to expect. Fourteen wickets fell today. South Africa lost its remaining five wickets for the addition of only 25 "to the overnight score of 138. Eight of the nine England wickets to fall went at one end. and only one went to a spin bowler. Richardson and Compton were out with only a bye on the board. Scores were:— SOUTH AFRICA First Innings A. Pithey, c Evans, h Bailey .. 15 T. L. Goddard, lbw, b Bailey .. 2 J. H.
