SINGAPORE. March 2. An inquiry will be held on the mysterious disappearance of the tanker Landak, which was carrying three British officers and 14 Asian seamen on a voyage through the South* China sea. A spokesman for the Shell Company, owners of the 342-ton tanker, said today: “We are waiting for advice from our London office to formally declare the ship as lost and after this an inquiry will be held.” -The spokesman said that hopes were given up of any survivors, and the company was satisfied the ship was lost. The Landak went missing on a voyage from Jesselton, British North Borneo, to Singapore three weeks ago. The only trace of the ship is a lifeboat found beached and deserted on a lonely West Borneo beach. Avalanche Rescue. Rescue workers are still searching today for seven people buried by an avalanche near Arlberg Pass, Austria, yesterday.—lnnsbruck, March 2.
