MISSING GIRL SAFE
! Arrival At Police Sergeant’s House (Netc Zealand Press Association) TE AWAMUTU, February 22. Penelope Mary Milne, aged Bine and a half, who disappeared after leaving her home at the small country settlement of Kakaramea, near Patea, yesterday morning to catch the school bus, knocked at the door of Sergeant L. P. Ricketts's house in Te Awamutu, before breakfast today. Mrs Ricketts took her in, fed her and put her to bed. The girl said she had been driven through by a man in a car, who told her on arrival in Te Awamutu to get out of the car. He directed her to the police station, which he said was a red brick building. Sergeant Ricketts’s home is next door to the police station. The girl was unable to give further information and could not describe accurately either the man or the car. Though tired and not very clear as to details, she was not unduly distressed. Police inquiries for the driver ©f the car are continuing. Earlier, a search for the girl near where she disappeared yesterday had been made by a large party of police and farmers.
