Sunken Submarine Found

(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, Feb. 20. The Federal German Republic is going to obtain its first big submarine in an unexpected way as the result of a chance discovery by a salvage vessel in the outer reaches of Flensburg Fiord, says the Bonn correspondent of the “Manchester Guardian.” It found one of the most modern of Germany’s war-time submarines lying completely undamaged at a depth of about 100 feet. The submarine will be lifted and handed over to the Defence Ministry. It was scuttled by its commander in 1945, and, according to German agency reports, had never been in action and was only in commission at the very end of the war.
