ELDERLY MAN ROBBED
Accused Committed For Sentence (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, January 17. Kenneth Reuben Browne, aged 25. a labourer, was today committed by Mr R. M. Grant, S.M., to the Supreme Court for sentence on a charge, to which he had pleaded guilty, of robbing an elderly man of £9O on August 31. 1955. On the application of the police prosecutor (Mr H. M. Holmes) i publication of the name of the , complainant was suppressed. The charge arose from an in- ! cident in a city office when . Browne allegedly struck, com- ’ plainant and threatened to throw 1 him out of a window of the build- ( ing if he called for help. Complainant said he was forced ■ to open his safe and Browne took ' the money. Although Browne later called at the office and offered to return the mony if complainant did not go to the , police, he did so, complainant ' said.
