AIR SEARCH FOR “SNOWMAN”

(Special Correspondent N.Z.P.A.) (Rec. 7 p.m.) LONDON. Jan. 16. The mystery of the abominable snowman of the Himalayas may not remain a mystery much longer if Tom Slick, a 39-year-old Texan oil millionaire, can help it, says the “News Chronicle.” He is setting out for Nepal with a six-man expedition next month to hunt the snowman with bloodhounds and plane. For years, huge footprints in the snow have puzzled Himalayan mountaineers. ' Sherpas and hill tribesmen call the legendary animal a yeti. Footprints which have been photographed are claimed to be made by a human-like animal, a large, unknown species of bear or monkey—or to be just a trick of tl e sun on the snow. Mr Slick thinks that spotting from the air will give the best chances of seeing the abominable snowman and that dogs may clinch an attempt to capture one.
