RESULTS IN STAGE 111 EXAMINATIONS (New Zeaiana Press Association) WELLINGTON, January 16. The following results in the stage 111 examinations are announced by the controlling authority for the New Zealand certificates in engineering. Results 'are subject to confirmation by the issue of individual result notifications. Subject abbreviations are: (1) mathematics; (2) mechanics and strength of materials; (3) electricity; (4) technical drawing. CR. denotes credit pass in subject indicated. The following candidates obtained a complete pass:— Christchurch: Gaye, E. J. (CR. 3); Rule, G. P. (CR. 2 and 4); Scandrett, T. G.; Sluis, R. H. (CR. 2 and 4): Thompson. I. Soprano’s Russian Tour.— The Australian singer, Joan Hammond, will be the first British soprano to sing in Russian on a Russian stage when she makes a concert tour of Russia next month. Miss Hammond has been invited to make the tour by the Russian Ministry of Culture. She will leave London on February 4.—London. January 15.
