HORSE SOCIETY EVENTS
GOOD JUMPING IN SHOW CLASSES
(New Zealand Press Association) PALMERSTON NORTH, Jan. 6. There was some good jumping in the show classes at the New Zealand Horse Society’s annual event in Palmerston North yesterday. The last event of the morning, the pony jumping competition, saw a jump off between three horses, and two clear rounds to Miss Jennifer Murphy’s Shallalagh, from Waipukurau, for a win. The Havelock North horse. Harmony, took second place, and B. Collins (Shannon) on Rangi, after one ciear round, fell at the triple jump, but continued on to take third place. There were a number of minor spills in this event, but no injuries. Results:— Pony Dressage Competition.—Miss Elizabeth Sheridan’s (Martinborough) Comedy 1, Miss Joan Kelly’s (Hastings) Tinker 2, G. Williams’s (Masterton) Puzzle 3.
Horse Jumping Competition.—R. B. Hansen’s (Gisborne) Sportsmaster 1, W. P. Spence’s (Whatatutu) Fling 2, P. A. Holt's (Napier) Souvenir 3. Pony Jumping Competition.—Miss Jennifer Murphy’s (Waipukurau) Shallalagh 1, Mrs Mackenzie’s and P. Grieve’s (Havelock North) Harmony 2, B. Collins’s (Shannon) Rangi 3.
