DRUNKEN DRIVER FINED £25
£2O PENALTY ON COMPANION (New Zealand Press Association) NAPIER, December 27. Walter Murdoch Ogle, an 18-year-old labourer, of Waihau, had the ignition key of his car commandeered by a constable in Wairoa last night. But Ogle’s 25-year-old companion, Nepia Andrews, a motor mechanic, of Wairoa, showed him how to start the car with a three-penny piece. In the Wairoa Magistrate’s Court this morning Ogle was fined £25, and had his licence cancelled for 12 months for driving while under the influence of liquor. Andrews was fined £2O for assisting Ogle to drive while under the influence of liquor, and £5 for assaulting Ogle. They pleaded guilty to all three charges. The assault took place during an argument between the two accused after they had been arrested.
