The bracket, which was well supported on the totalisator, paid £3 3s 6d for a win and two shillings more for a place The meeting was held in fine weather, but was marred by a howling north-westerly wind. The track was in good order. The financial returns again showed Th e totalisator handled £34,822 10s, compared with £42,356 10s on Boxing Day last year. The total for the meeting was £60,351, compared with £69.887 10s for 1955. a decrease of £9536 10s. The Girl Bngade-Shiann double combination returned £3O 13s for £l. After the running of the D. P. Wir.dle Memorial Handicap, the first leg of the double, an inquiry was held into an incident which occurred shortly after the start of the race. It was found that Blue Jay veered out, colliding with Glenalmar, whose rider, J. Walsh, was thrown from his sulky. Walsh escaped injury.
