MAGISTRATE’S COURT
WEDNESDAY (Before Mr R. J. Eyre, J.P., and Mr J. S. Boughen, J.P.) REMANDED Herbert Frank Karst, a sawmill employee, was remanded to January 7 when charged with being under the influence of drink or drugs while driving a truck on Clinton road, Darfield, on December 25. Bail was allowed in the sum of £25 and one surety of £25. Charged with assault on a female at Wellington on November 3, Edward John Peacock, aged 25, a seaman was remanded to January 5. A man, whose name was ordered not to be published, was remanded to January 21 when charged with assault on a female on December 25. Bail was allowed to the sum of £25. DRUNKENNESS Albert George Wolfendale, a third statutory offender for drunkenness, was fined £2 in default two days’ imprisonment. FINED FOR FIGHTING David Stephen Tucker, aged 19. a naval rating, and Tamati Nene, aged 24, a butcher, were each fined £2 for fighting in Cathedral square on December 24.
