MAN AND GIRL KILLED
HOUSE DESTROYED BY FIRE (New Zealand Press Association) WHANGAREI. December 23. A man and his young daughter were burnt to death in the home they were renting at Kaeo about 1.30 a.m. yesterday. They were: Charlie Hona, aged 46, a carpenter, married, with five children. Florence Hona, aged four. The mother, Mrs Heria Hona, aged 37, and the other four children, whose ages ranged from two years to 18, were with friends at Kaeo at the time of the tragedy. The house, owned by Mr R. Bramley, was destroyed. Two young men. Messrs Don Moselen, of Kaeo, and Stan Kupe, of Omaunu. saw the fire and rushed across a paddock. They broke windows and called, but received no answer. Police found the charred bodies of the father and daughter at daybreak.
