Fifth round matches In the lower grades of the Canterbury Cricket Association’s competitions were played on Saturday. Results were:— SECOND GRADE A Riccarton 191 and 162 (Voice 54; McNaughton six for 58) beat Lancaster Park 101 (Gordon five for 40) and 187 for eight (Rhind 54; Gordon five for 64) on the first innings. Marist 278 (O’Brien 82) beat St. Albans 198 and 257 for six (Notley 101 not out) on the first innings. High School Old Boys 272 (Plumb 59: Low six for 58) and 52 for one beat West Old Boys 200 and 120 (Small six for 52) by nine wickets. Sydenham 248 (McKnight 54; Hill six for 91) and 41 for three beat Boys’ High School 141 and 146 (Gregg 74; Bartholomew four for 41) by seven wickets. SECOND GRADE B University 157 and 67 for six beat Old Collegians 88 and 165 for seven declared (Carpenter 57) on the first innings. St. Albans 127 for six declared (Dobson 60, Spring 50) beat Sydenham 110 (Doidge 51, Mulcock five for 45) on the first innings. Old Collegians 231 for eight declared (Norman 72, Suckling 43) drew with High School Old Boys 203 for six (Baxter 113). University A 108 (Palmer six for 7) beat Technical Old Boys 40 (Sibley five for 50) and 26 for none on the first innings. THIRD GRADE A High School Old Boys 121 for seven declared and 9 for none beat Sydenham 87 (Parr four for 8) and 41 by 10 wickets. Lancaster Park 271 (Dobson 99, Barnes 53; Albrow four for 65) beat Marist 264 (Noonan 46) on the first innings. Riccarton 238 for seven declared (Hastie 118, Barnett 51 not out) beat St. Albans 36 (Hastie five for 8) and 60 by an innings and 142 runs. THIRD GRADE B Old Collegians B 127 (Adam five for 29) beat West Old Boys 92 on the first innings. Riccarton 130 for seven (Anderson 41) beat Technical Old Boys 129 (Edlin five for 33) on the first innings. East Christchurch 114 for. five beat Papanui High School Old Boys 91 on the first innings. Marist A 224 for four declared (Sheehy 103 not out) beat Marist B 91 (Sheehy six for 25) and 36 for seven (Hurley four for 12) on the first innings. Lancaster Park beat Sydenham by default. FOURTH GRADE A St. Albans 140 (Morrow six for 55) beat East Christchurch A 139 (Mills 62) on thp first innings. Lancaster Park B 134 (Howden 55) and 31 for one declared beat High School Old Boys 61 (Davies seven for 35) and 42 for three by 63 runs on the first innings.
