OVERSEAS STUDY IN DRAMA
SIX GOVERNMENT BURSARIES AWARDS ANNOUNCED (New Zealana Press Association) WELLINGTON, December 23. The award of six bursaries for overseas study in drama was announced yesterday by the Minister of Internal Affairs (Mr S. W. Smith). The bursaries, each valued at £4OO, plus a grant of £5O which is made available towards the cost of a return passage to New Zealand, have been awarded as follows: Sydney Falconer, Dunedin (acting), two years; Ben Hawthorne. Hastings (acting), two years; Patricia Frost, Christchurch (acting), two years; Kenneth Adams, Wellington (acting), one year; John Batstone, Christchurch (teaching of speech and drama), one year; John Norton, Wellington (teaching of speech and drama), one year. The awards have been made on the recommendation of the Drama Bursary Selection Committee which consists of Mr John Thoms, Mr Frank Newman, Mrs John Trevor. Mrs Craig Mackenzie. and Miss Olga Harding, with Mr J. V. Meech. Asistant-Secretary of Internal Affairs, as chairman.
