Petrol Price In Britain
LONDON. December 21 Oil firms believe fhat the price of petrol in Britain may rise to as much as 10s a gallon, according to the “Daily Express” today. They believe that more than half the 3.800.000 private cars on the road will be laid up by April 17 next—the end of the coupon period. This would mean less petrol sold, while the companies’ overhead and dealers’ expenses soar. Petrol would cost more at the source and cost more to carry around the Cape. Against this, pump sales would be drastically cut. Companies at the moment have to ask the Minister of Fuel before they can have any rise in price.
