R. J. Skelton Fined £20 For Interference
(New Zealand Press Association) DUNEDIN, Dec. 23. At an inquiry into the running of the Mornington Handicap at Wingatui on Saturday, R. J. Skelton, rider of Now Listen, was charged under rule 289 (2a) and (3) with having caused interference to Larboard Watch (G. W. Mein) and Winning Wave (L. W. Hare), about two furlongs after the start. Pennant (A. J. Stokes) and Aquarius (D. N. Hadfield) also met interference. This was caused when Larboard Watch went back through the field. Skelton was found guilty and fined £2O.
In the Dunedin Cup, Cashmere (B. J. Anderton) stopped quickly near the halfmile and caused Royal Warrant (D. J Thistoll) to shift ground and “check Writer (G. W. Mein). M. D. Alexander the rjder of Humber Hawk in the same event, broke a leather about two furlongs after the start. Alexander was charged with having used faulty gear, and was fined £2.
