DAMAGED WING OF PLANE
Wellington Firm May Make Repairs (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON. December 21. The damaged wing of the New Zealand Antarctic expedition's Auster aircraft will be flown from Taicri to Wellington tomorrow in a Royal New Zealand Air Force Bristol Freighter. The expedition is endeavouring to arrange to have the wing repaired by a civilian company. The aircraft was damaged when h.iVi.iN.Z.S. Endeavour was leaving Lyttelton. It is reported that efforts to obtain a replacement for the damaged starboard wing failed in Australia. It is hoped that a Wellington company will be able to repair the wing. As soon as it is ascertained how long it will take to make repairs, arrangements will be made to have the wing flown south. It could be flown to McMurdo Sound by an aircraft of the American Antarctic expedition.
