RURAL FIRE CONTROL [To the Agricultural Editor} Sir: With the tremendous growth in Canterbury this season, the future may hold great danger, if ordinary Canterbury summer weather now sets in Fires could start and prove very difficult to control. Many people have expiessed concern and it appears necessary for the Fire Commitlee to get busy, as it is no use leaving things until the fires actually occur. I understand the Canterbury Progress League has for many years provided the necessary organisation for the Rural Fire Committee, and it seems necessary for action to be taken at once, as it takes some time for an organisation to get everything ready to control any major outbreak of fire.— Yours, etc., FARMER.
