APPOINTMENTS TO ARMY POSTS

CHANGE IN COMMAND OF NORTHERN DISTRICT (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, December 21. The command of the Northern Military District is to pass to Brigadier W. S. McKinnon, who is at present in Washington. This was unofficially confirmed in Wellington today. He will succeed Brigadier C. L. Pleasants, who will be transferred to Wellington. The post for Brigadier Pleasants was not disclosed, but it is believed to be the command of the Central District. Brigadier McKinnon is now head of the New Zealand Joint Stall Mission in Washington. Since Brigadier A. H. Andrews left to become New Zealand Army liaison officer in London, the command of Central District has been held temporarily by a lieutenant-colonel. Brigadier Pleasants has also held the command of the Ist Infantry Brigade since the start of the present training year. It has not been indicated whether this command will pass to Brigadier McKinnon, who is an artillery officer.
