ALLEGED ATTEMPT AT EXTORTION
TWO MEN REMANDED (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, December 21. Two men were charged before Mr L. G. H. Sinclair, S.M., in the Auckland Magistrate’s Court today with demanding money by menaces with intent to steal it. Sub-Inspector W. R. Fell sought a remand to January 17, and Mr W. R. Bell, who appeared for both men, consented to this, and sought bail. Mr Bell also sought interim suppression of the names of the men. and this was agreed to by the Court after some discussion. Bail was allowed each man at £2OO, with a surety of the same sum.
