LOAN FOR HUNGARY

U.S. May Reject Application (Rec. 11 p.m.) WASHINGTON. Dec. 21. United States officials were looking with disfavour on Hungary’s reported plans to seek a loan from the United States and other Western nations, the United Press reported today. The news agency said the United States stood ready to help to relieve suffering among the Hungarian people, but it wanted no part of any step which would bolster the Soviet-im-posed regime of Premier Janos Kadar. Reports from Hungary said the Kadar Government was preparing to ask the free world for a 400.000.000 dollars, loan.

But United States officials said they had not heard of the plan through diplomatic channels yet.

The officials were reported to bel lieve that Hungary was being forced I to turn to the West because it had i no hopes of getting such a large loan I from the Soviet Union.
