EXCHANGE OF PRISONERS
Britons To Be Freed
(Rec. 11 p.m.) CAIRO. Dec. 21. A total of 471 interned British technicians left Cairo by train today for Ismailia for exchange later for some 400 Egyptian prisoners of war held by the British Army at Port Said.
The Britons were brought to Cairo station in large buses. They smiled and waved happily as the train pulled out of the station.
The Britons were escorted by Egyptian police and a representative of the Swiss Legation travelled with them.
Yesterday it was learned authoritatively from United Nations emergency force sources at Abu Suier that Egyptian prisoners would be flown back to Port Said early today from Cyprus.
The technicians were in charge of maintenance at the vast British base at Ismailia in the Canal Zone. They were arrested on October 31, the day the British air offensive against Egypt was launched.
