“SMASH AND GRAB” RAID
PENALTY OF 18 MONTHS’ IMPRISONMENT (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON. December 18. A “smash-and-grab” raid in Featherston street last Saturday week earned 18 months’ imprisonment for Finlay Fullerton, aged 32, a seaman. He appeared for sentence before Mr W. H. Carson, S.M., in the Wellington Magistrate’s Court today. “I am satisfied that .the penalty for what is known as ‘smash-and-grab’ must be a deterrent, not only to you, but also to any others who may think about committing it,” said the Magistrate.
