ASIAN CHRISTIAN CONFERENCE
Two Delegates From New Zealand The Assistant Bishop to the Primate (the Rt. Rev. E. J. Rich) and the Rev. Alan A. Brash, president and general secretary respectively of the New Zealand National Council of Churches, will represent New Zealand churches at the all-Asia Christian conference to be held in Sumatra, from March 17 to 27 next year. “This is the clear evidence of a new day in Asia,” said Mr Brash yesterday. “This conference is not planned by Western churches and missionaries—in fact, they are not part of it. It is an ’Asian affair, and the churches of New Zealand and Australia are included just because we, too, art part of Asia. “We have received the assurance,” said Mr Brash, “that our churches will be invited into full membership of the new Asian council when it is established, and Bishop Rich and I are empowered on certain conditions, to accept such membership.”
