IONA COMMUNITY FOUNDER

DR. MCLEOD TO TOUR NEW ZEALAND The Presbyterian Chaplain to the Queen (the Rev. Dr. George McLeod) will visit Christchurch early in January. Accompanied by his wife, Ladv McLeod—Dr. McLeod inherited a baronetcy but does not use the title himself— he is at present turing the United States. Founder of the lona Community in Scotland. Dr. McLeod recently was elected the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland for 1957. The main reasons for his visit to New Zealand is to attend the Ecumenical Youth Conference in Palmerston North, where he is to be principal speaker. After the conference Dr. McLeod will travel to Dunedin and he will be in Christchurch on January 8. 9, and 10. On the evening of January 9 Dr McLeod will give a lecture and show films of the lona Community and the Royal Tour, at the St. Andrew's Church lounge. Dr. McLeod is author of the book "We Shall Rebuild.” which gives the* story of the lona Community and his version for the church today. “Only One Way Left.” his latest book is not yet on sale in New Zealand. * In New York Dr. McLeod will be the guest of Dr. David Read. Dr Read was formerly a chaplain to the Queen. In San Francisco he will stay with Professor L. Millar, of Stanford University, a New Zealander and a member of the lona Community.
