Phillipstown School Assembly Hall

Another primary school in Christchurch is to have an assembly hall. After long efforts to raise their part of the funds, supporters of the Phillipstown School were delighted yesterday to see tenders called for their building. It will have overall dimensions of 81ft by 31ft, with girls’ and boys’ changing rooms measuring about 10ft by 20ft, a kitchen 20ft by 10ft. and a 15ft-deep stage, which can be extended. The whole structure will be in concrete block veneer, and it is expected that construction will start early in the New Year.
