DEATH OF 808 OLIN (N.Z Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 7 p.m.) NEW YORK. Dec. 16. Bob Olin, a former light heavyweight boxing champion, died early today of a heart attack. He was 48. Olin won the light heavyweight title from Maxie Rosenbloom in 1934. He lost it the next year to John Henry Lewis, and retired from the ring in 1939 after almost two years without a winning fight. After he lost the light heavyweight title. Olin tried briefly for the heavyweight championship. On April 2, 1936, he fought the best fight of his career while losing a 10round decision to heavyweight contender Tommy Farr in London. He had Farr on the floor three times—an accomplishment Joe Louis was unable to achieve later.
