MINOR FIRES

An oven fire at a house occupied by Mr Keith Crawford at 114 St., Martins road was attended by an engine from the Sydenham station at 10.34 a.m. yesterday. Slight damage was done to paintwork in a kitchen. A chimney fire at a house at 87 Sullivan avenue, occupied by Mr Laurie Cyril Joseph Donald, was attended by a unit from the Woolston station at 1.22 p.m. yesterday. There was no damage When a motorist lit a cigarette near an opened tin of petrol in the boot of his car in Madras street at 3.32 p.m. yesterday, the petrol caught fire. The blaze was extinguished by an engine from the. Central station. The car was not damaged. The owner of the car is Mr Colin Arthur Saggers, of 74 Tennyson street.
