The 140,000 acres of new national park lying in the mountain and lake district of Southern Nelson has been officially named “Nelson Lakes National Park.” It includes the popular holiday resort of Lake Rotoiti, and the bigger and more isolated Lake Rotoroa. Murchison is the nearest centre to this scenic hinterland, now preserved for the nation. Until a board is formed the park will be under the administration of the Commissioner of Crown Lands, Nelson.— (F.0.0.R.) Nelson, December 12.
