AUCKLAND’S GIFTS TO EXPEDITION
GOODS AND MONEY TO A VALUE OF £18,253 (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND. December 12. Auckland manufacturers and .business houses have contributed goods valued at £7233 to the New Zealand Antarctic expedition. In his report to the Auckland Ross Sea Committee today, the chairman (Mr W. H. Knox) said that if local manufacturers had been called upon earlier they could have provided all the equipment for the expedition. Nearly 200 firms gave goods, and Mr Knox said he had been amazed by the remarkable range of . firstquality goods local manufacturers had to offer. Mr Knox also thanked farmers for their contribution of butter to the value of £5OO. The Auckland committee, as its contribution to the expedition. has collected money and goods of a total value of £18,253.
