SURF LIFE SAVING
NORTH BEACH CLUB’S OPENING DAY The North Beach Surf Club held its opening day on Sunday in perfect weather. Mr J. Mathison, M.P., declared the season open. A march past display was given by a team of junior-juniors equipped with a miniature reel, and concluded with a junior-junior handicap surf race. Results wete:— Junior-junior handicap surf race: B. Dasler 1, R. Pollard 2,<K. Bird 3. Surf lace—Junior: P. Hekvitt 1, M. O’Neill 2; B. King 3. Senior: I. Shaw (Waimairi) 1, R. Chambers (Waimairi) 2, G. Duder 3. Surf ski race: E. Dasler 1, B. Bull 2, W. Earsman 3. Surf ski relay: R. Connelly and E. Carbines 1. E. Dasler and B. Bull 2, W. Earsman and J. Derbyshire 3. Senior beach sprint: R. Connelly 1, I. Davison 2, N. Wakefield 3.
