DUNEDIN’S NEW AIRPORT

PLANS FOR MOMONA EXPECTED “The Press” Special Service DUNEDIN, November 19. The plans and specifications for Dunedin’s new airport at Momona should arrive soon for examination by the city engineer, the Mayor (Mr L. M. Wright) said yesterday. The airstrip had first priority, he said, and the other buildings could follow. Fortunately the Momona project would be a straightforward job. because there were no hills to move and no valleys to fill in as was the case at Rongotai. Mr Wright said that he had had discussions with Mr J. J. Busch, general manager of the National Airways Corporation, about Momona and the new Vickers Viscount aircraft. As soon as possible after the arrival in New Zealand of the first Viscount, arrangements had been made with the corporation for a party of prominent Dunedin people to be given a flight about the South Island in a Viscount.
