CATHEDRAL SQUARE
Sir, —Having recently ventured to suggest that the Square might be redesigned to improve the precincts of the Cathedral. I was much heartened to see the article on Saturday on gyratory traffic and replanning the Square by one who is obviously an expert on such matters. Considering the potentialities, the present lay-out of the Square does seem to be rather a sorry and half-hearted expedient. Regarding gyratory traffic, the junction of Harper avenue, Bealey avenue and Carlton Mill road, almost invariably a place of awkward and hazardous convergence, might perhaps be considered suitable for such treatment. —Yours, etc., M.T.
