WORLD HEAVY-WEIGHT TITLE MATCH
(Rec. T p.m.) CHICAGO, Nov. 16. Archie Moore knocked down a sparring partner twice today as he trained for his world heavy-weight title match with Floyd Patterson on November 30. Patterson worked out two rounds each with three sparring partners at his training quarters in another part of Chicago. He had one of them on the verge of a knockdown at the final bell. Mr James Norris, president of the International Boxing Club, said the 15-round title bout for the championship vacated by Rocky Marciano was “catching on” with the public. More than 75.000 dollars worth of tickets had been sold, he said.
BERLIN FIGHT FOR LAVE
BERLIN, November 16. The Tongan heavy-weight boxer, Kitione Lave, will meet Guenther Nuernberg, of Germany, in Berlin on November 30. the West Berlin boxing promoter, Joachim Goettert. said today. Also on the bill will be a German middle-weight championship fight between Peter Mueller and Guenther Hase. Johnny Williams Retires.—The 29-year-old former British and Empire heavyweight champion. Johnny Williams, announced his retirement from the ring last night after being defeated in the sixth round of a scheduled 10-round fight against the Empire champion, Joe Bygraves, at Manchester. Williams won the British title from Jack Gardner and lost it. to Don Cockell. —London. November 17.
