POTTERY IN THE GROUP SHOW
Sir,—While agreeing with your contributor, “J.N.K.,” about the shapes and glazes of Helen Mason’s work, I must ask if he tried lifting any of the pots before lavishing such high praise on them. The teacher at the Maidstone College of Art, where I did a short pottery course, would hardly have let any of his students fire any work of such a weight, as being too clumsy and amateur. Doris Lusk’s work compares much more favourably from this basic point of view.—Yours, etc.,
A. A. DEANS. Peel Forest, November 16, 1956.
