Mr G. H. Grigg, of Hororata. was yesterday appointed chairman for the next 12 months at the annual meeting of the Totalisator Agency Board in Wellington. Mr Grigg succeeds Dr. M. G. Pezaro. of Auckland, president of the New Zealand Trotting Conference. — (P.S.S.) Mr S. T. Barnett, the ControllerGeneral of Police, is recovering in the Calvary Hospital. Wellington, from an roeration he underwent on Tuesday. Mr Barnett is progressing satisfactorily but it is not known when he will be discharged.— fP.A.) Mr D. L. M. Martin, of Wellington, has been appointed to the post of British representative of the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board. The position will fall vacant in 1958 and Mr Martin will join the board’s staff in 1957. Mr Martin has been for 10 years secretary of the Dominion meat and wool section council of Federated Farmers and research officer for the federation. From 1934 to 194j6 he was on the staff of the Queensland Insurance Company, and in 1939 was appointed manager of 'he company’s branch at Dunedin. From 1940 to 1945 he was a pilot in the Royal New Zealand Air Force. He is a university I graduate in law and commerce.— ’P.?..) i Sir Ernest Andrews and Mr C. H. 'Clibborn were made life members at i the annual meeting of the South Island Publicity Association yesterday. Mr L. (Christie, who succeeded Sir Ernest Andrews as president, said that Sir Ernest Andrews had been in the association since its inception. Mr Douglas Cresswell described Mr Clibborn as a I founder of the association.
