Fast Flight By Russian Jet Airliner
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 7 p.m.) NEW DELHI. Oct. 18. Russia’s twin jet TU-104 airliner flew into New Delhi today, covering the flight from Moscow in eight hours and 20 minutes.
The last lap of the journey from Tashkent to New Delhi was made at an average speed of 656 miles an hour, according to the airliner’s chief pilot. The TU-104 is on a proving flight to Rangoon to prepare for flying Soviet athletes to the Olympic Games at Melbourne.
