SOCIAL SECURITY MEDICINE
Sir, —A wonder how many people are fooled in the belief that their medicinal requirements are a free gift of the government. Social security taxation is surely sufficiently high to cover a complete medicinal treatment for all, including the newer antibiotics where necessary, when it is considered that 50 years ago (when the £1 was worth 20s) friendly societies were able to supply a similar service at £1 a person per annum.—Yours, etc., G.S. July 5, 1956.
