Rewards For Uranium Discoverers
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 11.30 p.m.) CANBERRA. July 5. The Australian Government announced today rewards totalling £35.700 to Australian prospectors for uranium discoveries. The biggest reward is £24.500 to Mr C. Walton for the discovery of the rich Mary Kathleen deposits in the Mount Isa district of Queensland Mr Walton previously received a preliminary reward of £5OO. The Australian Government’s maximum reward is £25,000. The only other payout of this size was made earlier to Mr J. White, who discovered the Rum Jungle deposits in the Northern Territory. In today’s list, two companies receive rewards. United Uranium (no liability» receives £lO.OOO for the discovery of uranium in the South AlliTerritory. The North Australian Uranium Corporation receives £5OO for a discovery in the same area Three rewards of £5O. £250. and £4OO are made to individual prospectors for smaller finds.
