An idea of the volume of work accomplished in the eleventh year of service by the Victoria League in London is given in the quarterly letter of the organisation to the Christchurch branch. Last year, 15,667 letters of welcome had been written. 7712 callers had been received, 6554 interviews had been given, more than 1000 invitations for week-end or longer visits had been sent to visitors. 15,734 invitations for day visits had been sent to visitors, 6069 tickets for functions had been sent to visitors, 36,077 newspapers and books had been sent to lonely outposts, 8532 children Jiad been “linked” as pen friends, and a students’ club had been opened for 75 students.
