MEDICAL BALL

TWO HUNDRED GUESTS ATTEND Bowls of pink blossom intermingled with white narcissi, stock, and anemones brought a foretaste of spring to the ballroom of the Winter Garden last evening, when the annual ball of the Canterbury division of the New Zealand branch of the British Medical Association was held. From the ceiling were hung moss baskets filled with long-stemmed pink daisies. On the supper tables bowls of red holly berries stood between tall triple stemmed candelabra, in which were set slender red candles.

The decorations were the work of the women members of the ball committtee, Mesdames H. Turner Jennings, David Orchard, and J. D. Lough. Other members were Dr. W. J. Pryor and Dr. C. J. J. Morkane.

About 200 guests attended. They were received by Dr. Graham Riley, president of the division, and Mrs Riley. A frcck of ice blue lace interwoven with silver thread, made with a bouffant skirt and wide off-the-shoulder neckline, was worn by Mrs Riley. The specially invited .guests included Mr P. Wynn-Williams, president of the Canterbury District Law Society, and Mrs Wynn-Williams; Mrs A. G Banfield. president of the Canterbury branch of the Registered Accountants’ Society, and Mrs Banfield; and Mr S. Halliwell, president of the Canterburv division of the New Zealand Denta' Society.
