OUTSTANDING HERD PRODUCTION

A pedigree Friesian herd in Canterbury has recently completed an outstanding production performance which easily overshadows any previous figures recorded by a herd of this size. Figures to hand for the Glenhope pedigree Friesian herd ol C. W. Humm and Sons tWaikuku) showed that this large unit of 98 cows put up the average of 4911 b fat for the season just concluded. This easily surpasses the previous record held by a North Island Jersey herd of similar size. The figures for the Jersey herd were 4631 b fat for 98 cows. While smaller herds than the two mentioned have given higher averages, the latest returns from the Glenhope herd are very gratifying for one of this size.
