CLASSIFICATION OF FILMS
NEW CATEGORIES EXPLAINED The new film censorship regulations in New Zealand are designed to give more specific advice to parents and others of the audiences for which each film is deemed suitable by the censor, said the Secretary of Internal Affairs (Mr A. G. Harper) in Christchurch. It was the responsibility of parents to see that their children did not attend of unsuitable films. Mr Harper gave the following description of the new censorship categories:— G—Film approved unrestrictedly for general exhibition. Y—Film approved for general exhibition but recommended as suitable for persons of 13 and over. A—Film approved for general exhibition but recommended as suitable for adults only. S—Film approved for general exhibition but recommended as suitable for unsuitable) for the class or classes of person specified in the certificate. R —Film approved for exhibition only to the class or classes of person stated in the certificate.
