New Auckland Motorway

Nabonal Roads Board decided in Wellington yesterday to construct a three-mile motorway to link the reading systems of Takapuna and areas Pi? rth » of Wlth ttle northern access to the Auckland harbour bridge The work is estimated by the board's engineer. Mr L. C. Malt, to cost about £9OO 000. The motorway will run from Northcote along the foreshore of Shoal Bay for one mile, with one fork branching east to Takapuna and another continuing north for one mile toward Albany. At Gordon road, the motorway will link up with an access road to the northern terminal of the bridge. This portion, construction of which had been approved previously by the board, is estimated to cost .£1.000.000. of which the board has agreed to pay £600,000.—(P. A.)
