BIG GAME
Mr VV. C. Dailey has suggested to the management committee of the Canterbury Rugby Union that the Springboks be entertained in Canterbury in a similar manner to that adopted by one province in South Africa when the All Blacks toured in 1924. “Get them out in the back country,” said Mr Dailey. “The thing we enjoyed most in South Africa was a trip out into the country shooting springboks.” Although it can safely be assumed that the general knowledge of the New Zealand players was such that they could distinguish between springboks and Springboks, it is to be hoped that the South Africans in New Zealand do not put the wrong construction on Mr Dailey’s suggestion to the extent of making hurried preparations for an All Black-hunting safari into the wilds of Canterbury’s high country.
