BALLERINA TO JUDGE AT EISTEDDFOD
Miss Kathleen Gorham, the popular ballerina of the Borovansky Ballet Company, who injured her foot when in New Zealand last year, has been appointed judge of ballet and theatre dancing for the 1956 City of Sydney Eisteddfod to be held in September. . Miss Gorham won the juvenile ballet championship of the Sydney Eisteddfod (for 12 years and under) in the same year as. Miss Elaine Fifield was placed second in the classical ballet solo (10 years and under) and won the junior song and dance championship. Both went overseas for further study and achieved brilliant success. Three years ago Miss Gorham was acclaimed in Paris as a principal of the Marquis de Cuevas Ballet Company. She returned to the Borovansky Company as its leading ballerina about two years ago. Miss Fifield remained in Britain and is now a principal of the Sadler’s Wells Company.
