50-MILE RACE FOR N.Z. JUNIOR TITLE
To give the centre controlling the meeting more time to prepare, the New Zealand road cycling championships will be allocated 13 months ahead, the president (Mr G. W. Clark) told a meeting of the Canterburv centre of the New Zealand Amateur Cycling Association last evening This decision was made at a meeting of the New Zealand council at Wellington last week-end. The council also confirmed a Canterbury remit to increase the distance of the New' Zealand junior championship race to 50 miles. Previously it has been run over a 25-milq course. The 1957 New Zealand track championships will be held in Christchurch the first week in March. All riders nominated for the Olympic road trials must include a complete record of their competitive racing with their nominations.
Z.s the convener of the selection committee (Mr C. Rondel) was granted leave of absence for personal reasons. Mr L Frew was elected to fill the vacancy. Mr A. Hall, a member of the committee, was appointed convener. The meeting decided to make application to the New Zealand council for their approval to hold the 1957 national road championships at Waikari.
