LOCAL BODY TAXES
CALL TO GOVERNMENT FOR INQUIRY (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, June 12. The executive committee of the Auckland chamber of Commerce this afternoon called on the Government to set up a Royal Commission to inquire into local body taxation. The resolution said it appeared tliat local body taxation as now levied had become a very heavy burden. It asked the Government to set up a commission “to investigate and report on the question of local body taxation with the object of finding a method of spreading the burden more equitably.”
